18 year old NEET aspirant found hanging in PG room, 7th student suicide in Kota this year | India News

NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old NEET aspirant Ankush Meena was found hanging in his PG room in Kota on Tuesday.
The student, Ankush Meena, had been preparing for NEET-UG in Kota for over a year and a half and lived in his PG room in Pratap Nagar.
Circle inspector at Dadabari police Station Menge Lal Yadav said a cousin, who lived nearby, discovered his body hanging from a ceiling fan. No suicide note was found, but the police suspect a love affair as the reason.
Inspector Yadav also confirmed that a case has been registered under section 194 of the BNSS act, and an investigation is underway.
Head constable Jitendra said that his team rushed to the PG after they received a distress call regarding the suicide.
According to his uncle, Ankush scored around 480 marks in routine tests and showed no visible academic stress. He had spoken to his father earlier that morning without mentioning any concerns.
This year, Kota has seen seven student suicides. Six students—five JEE applicants and one NEET candidate—died by suicide in January.
Kota, that is referred to as India’s coaching hub, saw 17 coaching students deaths last year.
