In an interview with the Daily Mail, Chrissy revealed, “I have always enjoyed strength training. I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights, like I don’t want to run unless I’m being chased.I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong. And that’s really the impetus behind any of it.”
Chrissy Metz’s childhood struggles
In 2017, the actress stated that she had always struggled with food and weight since she was a child. “I was born chubby and as I got older, at different times in my life, I was thinner or more active or playing sports, but I was definitely always a chubbier kid,” she said. When Chrissy was 11 years old, she went to the ‘Weight Watchers Program,’ where she was the youngest person in the room. While no one necessarily confronted her in the school, the 44-year-old actress remembers listening to the whispers. With the insecurities, Metz stated that her stepfather emotionally and physically abused her for eating and criticised her weight. “He joked about putting a lock on the refrigerator. We had lived with a lack of food for so long that when it was there, I felt like I had to eat it before it disappeared. Food was my only happiness,” Chrissy wrote in her 2018 memoir, ‘This Is Me,’ according to People. Furthermore, Metz wrote that she used to sneak into the bathroom to eat cookies or chips, anything that wouldn’t be detected and give her the bliss. Chrissy’s stepfather used to hit the parts of her body that offended him. However, they do have a relationship now and care about each other.
