Jeremy Strong may join ‘The Social Network’ 2
Jeremy Strong from ‘Succession’, has officially expressed his interest in ‘The Social Network 2’, joining the likes of Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter reports, all of these actors have been positively reviewing the script and have been meeting up with the writer of the film, Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin was a part of the original 2010 film as well and had written an award-winning script at the time. While nothing has been confirmed from the film’s team, it is reported that, as of right now, the film is still in its development stage. It has also been shared that, as of now, no official offers have been made to any actor or actress for roles in the film either.
What will the film be about?
The original film showed the story of how one of the most popular social media companies came into existence and what all went down behind the development of the platform. This endeavour, however, will explore the impact that it has had on its audience, specifically focusing on the negative sides. It will take into account how children and teenagers have been influenced and affected by the power of social media in the past decade or so. The film will also cover the coup attempt of January 6, 2021, and will explore themes of the booming misinformation that is being circulated online on a daily basis. Mikey Madison is in talks to play the whistleblower Frances Haugen, who went to some of the biggest publications with her findings. Jeremy Allen White, on the other hand, has the possibility of taking on the role of the very reporter who broke the story to the public. As for Strong’s role, nothing has been shared, though speculations and rumours suggest that he will either be taking on the role of one of the editors of the publication, or he will be playing the CEO of the company, Mark Zuckerberg.
