Envision Racing driver Zak O’Sullivan topped the 2026 Miami Rookie Free Practice on Friday. The team’s simulator driver beat Citroen Racing’s Théo Pourchaire in the FP0 test session at the Miami International Autodrome. Under a special schedule, the rookies were given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo cars ahead of Saturday’s race. Here are the results from the Miami Rookie Free Practice.

The Miami Rookie Free Practice gave young drivers a real taste of the GEN3 Evo cars during the 40-minute session. The run also allowed teams to gather crucial track data ahead of the Formula E race at the new Miami International Autodrome. The venue is the 39th circuit on the Formula E calendar and measures 2.32 km in length.Zak O’Sullivan topped the session with a best lap time of 55.810 seconds. Citroen Racing’s Theo Pourchaire recorded a lap time of 58.800 seconds. Nissan rookie Gabriele Mini finished third, followed by Cupra Kiro driver Pepe Marti in fourth. DS Penske rookie Nikita Bedrin completed the top five.Pepe Marti was the only full-time Formula E driver to take part in the Miami Rookie Free Practice, as he still qualifies as a rookie after not yet completing a full Formula E season.O’Sullivan had told FormulaE.com ahead of the race, “I’m excited to be driving for Envision Racing again, this time in Miami. I’ve really enjoyed the Formula E testing I’ve done so far, and I’ll be working closely with the team to ensure they head into the race weekend in the strongest possible position.”
More Action Lined Up at the Miami E-Prix
The Miami Rookie Free Practice was an additional session for rookies ahead of the regular Formula E schedule. After the two practice sessions, qualifying is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. local time (8:10 p.m. IST) on Saturday, followed by the final race at 2:05 p.m. local time (12:05 a.m. IST on February 1).This is the third edition of the Miami E-Prix since it made its debut in 2015. The race returned last year and was held at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
