Konkona Sen Sharma, who will soon be seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, recently talked about the challenges of balancing work and personal life in the film industry. She also shared her thoughts on what changes are needed to better support working parents.In an interview with Firstpost, the ‘Wake Up Sid’ actres, stated, “I genuinely want to say that in today’s day and age, there is a certain motherhood penalty in any industry, which happens. It’s called the fatherhood premium and the motherhood penalty. Because what happens is that fathers, as they have children and they become more and more senior, they earn more and more. But for women with every child, there is a financial setback because you’re not able to kind of participate in the way society expects you to or for that matter what the office work demands.“
The actress expressed concern that it’s becoming increasingly difficult for women to manage both their careers and motherhood. She pointed out that this might discourage many women from having children. According to her, it’s getting harder to balance work and being a good mother, and unless governments step in and introduce supportive policies for working mothers, real change won’t happen.Personal lifeKonkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey got married in 2010 but separated five years later. Their divorce was finalized in 2020.
