Karisma Kapoor’s ex mother in law Rani Kapur says she has no idea how her son Sunjay Kapoor passed away, says she needs closure amidst Rs 30,000 crore family feud | Hindi Movie News

Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12. As per reports, he swallowed a bee which then led to a heart-attack. But just after his death, there seems to be a huge feud amongst his family. Sunjay was the chairman of $3.6 billion Sona Comstar Group. His untimely demise has triggered a massive inheritance dispute that reportedly involves assets worth over ₹30,000 crore. With multiple voices and claims emerging from within the family, the late entrepreneur’s estate has been under scrutiny. Sunjay Kapur’s mother Rani Kapur has spoken out just days after claiming she was pressured into signing papers during a vulnerable moment. Her statement follows the recent appointment of Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev, as a non-executive director at Sona Comstar, the family’s auto parts company. In an interview with ANI, Rani expressed lingering doubts about her son’s sudden death. Sunjay passed away in June after a tragic polo accident, where he reportedly suffered cardiac arrest caused by swallowing a bee. His final rites took place in New Delhi. “I still don’t know what happened to my son. I’m old now, and I need closure before I go,” Rani said, hinting at unresolved questions.Reflecting on the origins of the family business, she added, “I may be old and frail, but my memory of being with my husband when Sona was set up is strong. I remember the early days of Sona, built with care, sacrifice, and love. I’m here to remind the world that our family legacy must not be lost. It must be passed on as my husband always wanted it to be.”Rani concluded by saying she will not speak further due to her age and health. “Given my health and my age, I will not be making any further comments. My legal team will address everything necessary.” Meanwhile, Priya Sachdev was subsequently appointed a ‘non-executive director’ of Sona Comstar by the board. She has since changed her social media handle from ‘Priya Sachdev Kapur’ to ‘Priya Sunjay Kapur’. Her daughter from her previous marriage to Vikram Chatwal, Safira, has dropped her surname on social media as well. Amid reports that Karisma is trying to claim a portion of Sunjay’s estate, insiders have now set the record straight. “Karisma Kapoor is not involved in any inheritance or property-related matters,” said a source close to the family. “She has no claim, nor is she seeking any share in the estate. Her only concern is the well-being and future of her children.”
