At the Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship in a grueling ladder match against Kevin Owens. The night also saw a shocking victory from Jey Uso, who won the Royal Rumble match and earned the right to challenge for a world title at WrestleMania.
Rather than selecting Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso chose to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, leaving Rhodes without a confirmed opponent. As it stands, Rhodes is set to defend his title against the winner of the Elimination Chamber match on March 1. However, behind the scenes, speculation suggests his WrestleMania opponent may have already been decided.

Could CM Punk Join Cody Rhodes and John Cena?

The prevailing belief is that Cody Rhodes will take on John Cena in Las Vegas, with Cena aiming for his record breaking 17th world title in what could be his final year as a WWE superstar. However, there are whispers that another major name could be added to the mix.
According to WrestleVotes via the Backstage Pass Q&A, some within WWE are advocating for CM Punk to be included in the match:
“I don’t know if it’s been discussed in an official capacity, but I do know there are people there that would rather that match (Rhodes vs. Cena vs. Punk) than Reigns vs. Punk vs. Rollins if that matters at all. I don’t know, but I do know that there are some people who would prefer that.”
Currently, CM Punk is expected to be involved in a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. However, with no official announcements from WWE, changes could still be made in the lead-up to WrestleMania 41.
