According to officials, Toraya Reid, the elder sister of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Naz Reid, was shot and killed on Saturday. She was fatally shot at the Paragon Apartment complex in Jackson Township, New Jersey. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that by the time the officers arrived, she was already unresponsive. They later arrested a man identified as Shaquille Green of Jackson Township for the crime.

Jackson Township, New Jersey, police said that, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, a man shot and murdered his 28-year-old girlfriend outside of an apartment complex. Around 11 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to the scene of a shooting incident where a woman had been left unconscious at the Paragon Apartment Complex located on Larsen Road in Jackson Township.After Toraya Reid was shot many times, authorities say they discovered her unconscious body. “Laying near the exit of the apartment complex,” according to the charges, she was discovered. According to a statement from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, he has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the death of Toraya Reid.Green was arrested without any problems after being seen “running on North New Prospect Road”. Green is currently being detained on suspicion of murder.“A subsequent investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, identified Green – who has been in a dating relationship with Ms. Reid – as the individual responsible for her death,” the prosecutor’s office said.Green and Toraya Reid had been in “a dating relationship,” according to Billhimer. Officers noticed Green fleeing the scene when they arrived after getting a 911 call indicating gunfire, according to Billhimer. According to officials, Green was placed under police custody at that time.Naz Reid discussed having two sisters and being the middle child in an interview with MSP Magazine in 2023. “Toraya and Jakahya,” according to the 26-year-old Timberwolves standout. “My older sister is super protective, she treats us like she’s our parent.”
