Throwback: When Bruins’ Milan Lucic went on an “indefinite leave” after he was charged with physically assaulting his now ex-wife in 2023

Milan Lucic, one of the most talented and popular players in the NHL, had found himself in a huge scandal in 2023, that messed up his NHL career. In 2023, while Milan Lucic was resting during an injury, the Boston Bruins’ player was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery on his ex wife. However, things soon changed in his life as Milan Lucic’s ex wife chose to opt out of testifying against him.
Milan Lucic Was Charged With Physically Assaulting His Now Ex Wife But She Refused To Testify
The NHL player, Milan Lucic, started his career on the ice with the Boston Bruins in 2007 and was even a part of the team when the Bruins’ won the Stanley Cup in 2011. But in 2023, the Boston Police Department received a 911 call from his now ex wife who accused him of physically assaulting her.
Milan Lucic’s now ex wife then told the police officers that he had pulled her hair but did not choke her, after she initially reported that he tried to choke her. The NBA star was then arrested and then was released on bail on personal recognizance.
As per the Boston Globe, the Boston Bruins’ head coach,Jim Montgomery, said, “(Lucic) is taking a leave of absence from the team right now and we support the Lucic family, and we will continue to provide support and help for the Lucic family and out of respect for their privacy, that’s all I’m going to comment on the details right now.”
Months later, all charges against Milan Lucic were dropped after his now ex wife decided not to testify. Later, in April 2024, Milan Lucic and his ex wife headed for a divorce. According to TMZ, the reason for the divorce between Milan Lucic and his ex wife were cited as “irreconcible differences”.
While it has been a year since then and yet Milan Lucic has not made a comeback yet. He has become more private with his life and is hardly active on his social media.
In 2023 when he was arrested, Milan Lucic had just signed a one year deal with the Boston Bruins for $1 million.
