No fuel for vehicles older than 15 years in Delhi after March 31 | Delhi News
NEW DELHI: To combat pollution in Delhi vehicles older than 15 years will be barred from refueling after March 31, Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced following a meeting with officials.
Sirsa, who heads the Environment, Forest and Wildlife department, also stated that a team would be set up to identify and restrict the movement of such vehicles in and out of the city.
Additionally, he emphasised that major establishments, including Delhi Airport, high-rise buildings and large office complexes, must install anti-smog guns to curb pollution.
“From March 31, fuel will not be supplied to vehicles over 15 years old. We are making it mandatory for big hotels, office buildings, the airport and construction sites to install anti-smog guns immediately,” Sirsa said.
The government is also exploring artificial rain through cloud seeding to further tackle pollution.
“We will secure the necessary permissions for cloud seeding and ensure that artificial rain is used during severe pollution episodes,” he added.
With winter approaching, air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas is expected to deteriorate.
Meanwhile, Sirsa took a swipe at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of corruption. “They looted the public through liquor, school, bus, and now a CCTV scam.
They claimed cameras would prevent theft, but the cameras themselves have disappeared. A CAG audit may be needed for this as well,” he remarked.
