The Golden State Warriors are reportedly considering a bold move to bring back Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant. With the Phoenix Suns struggling this season, trading Durant might become their best option to rebuild. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Suns had a deal in place to send Durant to the Warriors earlier, but Durant himself vetoed the move. Despite this, speculation about a potential reunion continues to swirl.
The Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, are in a win-now mode. With their championship window narrowing, adding Kevin Durant could be the key to securing another title. Fadeaway World recently proposed a trade scenario where Golden State would send Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski, and a first-round pick to Phoenix in exchange for Durant. While the Warriors have found success since acquiring Butler, the allure of pairing Durant with Curry again might be too tempting to ignore.
Durant’s time with the Golden State Warriors from 2016 to 2019 was historic, resulting in two NBA championships. However, his decision to join a 73-win team was met with criticism, with many arguing that he took the “easy way out” to secure titles. Since leaving Golden State, Durant has failed to reach the same heights, not making a single conference finals appearance despite his individual brilliance.

“Joining Golden State made them invincible, but many scoffed at the notion that Durant himself earned those titles,” one analyst noted. While Durant may want to escape the Warriors’ shadow, returning to Golden State could offer him the best chance to add another championship to his legacy.
For the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant would no longer be a luxury but a necessity. With Curry and Green aging, the team needs a proven superstar to maximize their remaining title window. Whether Durant is willing to revisit his past with Golden State remains to be seen, but the possibility of this blockbuster trade has fans and analysts buzzing.

Let us know if getting Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns will be a smart move for the Golden State Warriors. Will the reunion be beneficial for the team especially after the blockbuster acquisition of Jimmy Butler? Or do you feel the boys in purple can push for someone better who would gel better with Stephen Curry and make the most out of his prime?
