Madhya Pradesh: Injured youth pleads for help as police delay medical assistance at Rajgarh accident site

BHOPAL: A video from an accident site in Kurawar area of Rajgarh district has sparked outrage after an injured youth was seen pleading for help while police allegedly remained occupied with paperwork instead of arranging immediate medical assistance. The incident took place on Tuesday evening around 5:45 PM near Jaiswal Grocery Shop on the Talen State Highway, where two motorcycles collided head-on. Four youths were injured, two of them critically. Locals alerted the police, who arrived shortly after the crash.A video that surfaced on Wednesday shows one of the injured lying on the road, repeatedly urging police officers to take him to the hospital, saying, “Take me, or I will die.” Despite the urgency, police were reportedly seen noting down names and addresses instead of rushing the injured to safety, say locals.Eyewitnesses claim the delay in medical help may have worsened the condition of the critically injured. Eventually, all four were taken to the Kurawar Government Hospital, where two were referred to a higher facility. In response to the controversy, DGP Kailash Makwana denied any negligence, stating, “The ambulance did not arrive. When the police vehicle reached the spot, the officers took the injured to the hospital.” He added that the situation is being reviewed to ensure that such incidents are handled promptly in the future.Kurawar TI Sangeeta Sharma was quoted by local media saying that ASI Prasadi Lal, who was on duty, had called the 108 ambulance immediately and acted as per protocol. She claimed that one of the victims had minor injuries and was taken home by his family, while the others were shifted once transport was available.Victims are said to be out of danger.
