'Jeff Bezos is on the run, this is a crazy ...', claims protestors; but there may be a 'twist' in Lauren Sanchez-Jeff Bezos wedding 'planned' by Venice mayor

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s Venetian wedding celebrations are facing a “crazy” mix of protests, rumours and security issues, a report claims. These developments have reportedly led to potential last-minute venue changes for the Amazon founder’s wedding, which protesters are claiming as a “twist” in the plans. The world’s third-richest man and his fiancée are set to host a three-day celebration for a gathering of celebrities, with guests already beginning to arrive. Bezos’s mega-yacht, Koru, has also arrived in Italy. However, his security advisors are prepared to alter key locations due to concerns about potential protests related to the lavish wedding, Page Six reports. Local sources indicate that plans are adjustable, with the couple having booked multiple venues over several days as a contingency.

How Lauren Sanchez-Jeff Bezos’ wedding plans may be seeing a ‘twist’

Commenting on the changes to the wedding plans, a protester named Tommasso Cacciari told The Times of London: “Bezos is on the run — this is a crazy victory for a small group of people with no money who went up against one of the richest men on the planet.”Bezos has already been forced to cancel one planned event: an after-party event which was scheduled to be held on June 21 at Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia, a 14th-century events space. This event has now been moved to Le Tese, a hall at Venice’s former shipyard, the Arsenale, The Times reported.“The couple has deliberately kept multiple options open, booking several venues across a range of dates. The strategy serves both to mislead paparazzi and protesters, and to ensure contingency plans in the event of last-minute logistical setbacks,” a Venetian insider said to Page Six.The change of plans may be due to the possibility of the celebrities attending the couple’s wedding, including Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump, and Barry Diller, facing disruption as protestors have vowed to cause problems during the event. The protest group “No Space for Bezos” has already put up banners across the city for the same. In a statement to Page Six, the protest group’s spokesperson, Federica Toninello, said: “We reject the exploitative logic that sees the city as a commodity. What worries us even more is a mayor who prefers selling Venice rather than addressing the real problems its residents face — rising living costs, housing prices, the depopulation of the historic center. The setup of this mega-event is emblematic of the mayor’s vision for Venice. These kinds of events create precarious, seasonal jobs that are overly dependent on foreign demand. But Venetians need stable employment with fair wages.”However, the report adds that Venice officials lobbied to host Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding after learning the couple was scouting locations, ultimately securing the island of San Giorgio Maggiore as the venue. The wedding ceremony may be moved to either the Teatro Verde or the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, if protestors cause any disruptions at the original venue.Meanwhile, other events will be possibly held at Palazzo Pisani Moretta, Hotel Excelsior, or aboard Bezos’ yacht, Koru. Despite claims of supporting the city, no donations from Bezos or guests have been reported. The celebration will span Venice’s top hotels and include custom Murano glass, high-end catering, and a guest welcome at La Pagoda. Due to protests, the yacht may stay outside the city with guests ferried in.
