Jaipur Domestic Help Heist: Woman Tied Up and Robbed of Rs 1.5 Crore in Jewellery | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A 45-year-old woman was tied up, gagged, attacked and robbed of jewellery and other valuables by two domestic helps and their accomplice in the Vidhyadhar Nagar area on Monday evening.
She was alone at home when the robbers overpowered her and attacked her with a knife. Police officials said that, according to a preliminary investigation, the stolen gold and valuables were worth about Rs 1.5 crore.
DCP (North) Rashi Dogra told TOI that the victim, identified as Jyoti Agarwal, is the daughter of Subhash Goyal, a representative of a traders’ union in Jaipur. Her husband runs a hardware shop in New Aatish Market.
The robbery took place at Jyoti’s house near the vegetable market in Ambabari. “The family hired a domestic help about two months ago, who later recommended another worker identifying himself as Ashok. He was also hired two days ago. Neither of them was verified,” said Dogra.
A police officer said Ashok, along with the other domestic help and their accomplice, threatened Jyoti at knifepoint while she was alone at home. When she resisted, they attacked her with a knife, inflicting injuries.
The robbers broke open the cupboard and fled with jewellery valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
Despite her injuries, Jyoti managed to alert her family and inform the police. Officers arrived at the scene, provided her with medical assistance, and launched an investigation. Security checkpoints have been set up across the city to track the culprits.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat stated that Ashok, originally from Bihar, was hired as a domestic worker only a day before the robbery.
“Ashok and his accomplices overpowered her, gagged her with a towel, tied her hands and legs, and forced her to the floor. One of the assailants broke into the safe and took the jewellery,” said the officer.
