Class XII boy beaten to death by his classmates in Erode school | Coimbatore News

ERODE: A 17-year-old Class XII boy was beaten to death allegedly by two of his classmates as they objected to him talking to their female classmates. Police arrested the two boys based on CCTV footage evidence. The deceased has been identified as S Adhitya of Selvam Nagar in Kumalankuttai. He was studying in a govt higher secondary school in the same locality.On Wednesday morning, Adhitya’s father, Shiva, 48, dropped him at the school entrance as usual. But Adhitya didn’t attend classes. He was found unconscious on a road near the school in the evening.Residents rushed him to Erode Government Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he was dead. Shiva lodged a complaint at the Veerappanchatram police station. He told reporters that two students from the same school had a dispute with his son as they wanted him to refrain from speaking to the girls in their class. “I have told the police that these two students might have caused my son’s death,” he stated.The police moved the boy’s body to the Erode Government Medical College and Hospital in Perundurai for postmortem and commenced investigations. “We are investigating if other students are involved in the murder,” said Veerappanchatram police inspector S Senthil Prabhu.The two minors were booked under sections 103 (punishment for murder) and 296(b) (engaging in obscene acts or using obscene language in a public space causing annoyance to others) of the BNS. They were produced before the Erode Juvenile Court and placed in judicial custody.
