Chilli plantations in Mayem under threat | Goa News

Bicholim: The spread of disease in chilli plantations over the past few days has Mayem farmers worried. They said the infestation has increased this year, causing the plants to dry up despite ample watering and fertilisers.
The exact cause is unknown, but unfavourable weather is believed to be one of the reasons. Farmers Manohar Harmalkar, Vasudev Naik, and others said they had to replant the chilli plants 2-3 times. “This sudden loss of chillies has never happened in Mayem before. Agriculture department officials must inspect the farms,” said Harmalkar. tnn
