ChatGPT down: OpenAI’s AI chatbot experiences global outage, what the company has to say

OpenAI‘s ChatGPT AI chatbot service is experiencing a significant global outage, with user reports of problems surging across multiple regions. According to DownDetector, a website that tracks status across the world, showed spikes in user problems related to chatbot on the web and app as well as login issues.At the time of writing, India reported over close to 800 outage cases. Concurrently, the US registered nearly 1100 complaints, and more than 1,450 users in the UK reported issues with the AI chatbot. Around 90% of reported problems with the chatbot on the web, while less than 10% reported problems with the app. There has been issues regarding login and APIs as well.
OpenAI says it is investigating the issues
OpenAI acknowledged the issues with a message on its status page, stating, “Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across listed services. We are investigating.”It says that the problem has been going on for 3 hours and has affected services like APIs, ChatGPT and Sora — its AI video creation chatbot.In a follow-up message, OpenAI says that are elevated error rates on Sora.“We are continuing to investigate the issue for the listed services,” the company said, noting that it is causing “degraded performance”.When members of the Times of India Tech team checked, some of them are receiving “error in message stream” note.
