Bus from Bihar to Delhi falls off Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Etawah; 2 dead, 52 injured

KANPUR: Two people died in an accident, while 52 others were injured after a bus travelling from Bihar to Delhi lost control and fell off the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Saifai area of Etawah during the early hours of Thursday. The injured were admitted to Saifai Medical University. On Wednesday, a double-decker bus with around 70 passengers left Madhubani, Bihar, for Delhi. On Thursday morning, around 4.00am, the bus lost control and fell into a ditch at kilometre 103 on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Chaos ensued immediately after the accident. Upon receiving the information, the UPEIDA team and local police arrived at the spot. The team rescued everyone from the bus. Fifty-two injured people were taken to the Medical University, where Shahina (20) from Bardaha village, Jalasar police station, Mohtari district, Nepal, and Manoj Kumar (59) from Rampur Deeh, Darbhanga, Bihar, were declared dead. SSP Etawah Brijesh Kumar Srivastava stated that the bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem, while the injured are receiving treatment at Saifai Medical University. ““It initially appears that the accident occurred due to the driver falling asleep. However, the exact cause of the accident is being investigated,” the SSP added.
