Atlanta Hawks sign Serbian playmaker Nikola Đurišić to three-year deal after acquiring his draft rights | NBA News

In his first season with the team, the Atlanta Hawks were not concerned about bringing the 2024 No. 43 overall pick to the NBA. They have signed Nikola Djurisic to an NBA deal for the next season. The team announced the news on Friday. According to NBA reporter Michael Scotto, the Serbian player has agreed to a three-year contract worth $5.95 million, including a one-year guarantee.

Nikola Đurišić is one of Serbia’s most exciting young talents, and now he’s officially set to begin his NBA journey with the Atlanta Hawks. One year after drafting Serbian basketball talent Nikola Đurišić, the Atlanta Hawks have formally signed him to an NBA contract.

The team signed a three-way contract with Miami and Houston in June 2024 to acquire his rights. In 2023-24, the forward played in 30 Adriatic League games with Mega in Serbia. Kevin Chouinard, an Atlanta Hawks reporter, announced the same on X and wrote:“Hawks had three roster spots and didn’t have room for three minimum deals without going into tax so the using this exception might point to them carrying the full 15 players to enter the season.”This wasn’t the first time Nikola Đurišić made the news. He suffered an injury in his second summer league game on July 14, 2024. As a result, he had to get surgery to fix the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot.In the beginning, it was anticipated that he would be out for about four months. However, he was back soon. On the other hand, he might prove to be a valuable player to the Atlanka Hawks. In the Adriatic League and G League, he demonstrated his ability to start offensive plays. He is, therefore, a useful addition to the NBA of today.The Atlanta Hawks’ contract details, however, were not made public.
