When Shah Rukh Khan bought Aamir Khan a laptop in 1996—but he didn’t open it for five years! | Hindi Movie News

When Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were on a tour in the USA and UK in 1996, SRK, always known for being tech-savvy, convinced Aamir to buy a laptop. However, Aamir, who admitted he wasn’t great with technology, didn’t open it for five years—only to find out later that it didn’t work anymore!
Aamir Khan earlier shared this amusing anecdote at the NASSCOM annual technology and leadership summit. As per Indian Express, Aamir recalled, “Shah Rukh Khan and I in 1996 were doing a show together in the USA and UK. Even then, he was always up-to-date with technology.”
During their trip, Shah Rukh suggested Aamir buy a newly launched Toshiba laptop. Aamir, unfamiliar with computers, didn’t see the need, but SRK convinced him, saying it could store office work and important data. Aamir agreed and told him, “Jo tu lega apne liye, wahi tu mere liye lele.”
Despite purchasing the laptop, Aamir never used it. Years later, his new manager noticed it lying around and asked if he could use it. Aamir replied, “Usne bola that sir aapka ek laptop main dekhta hu hamesha pada rehta hai, can I use it? and I said please use it, and he opened it, and woh on hee nahi hua.”
Laughing at his own reluctance toward technology, Aamir admitted, “Technology and I are so far apart.”
On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in the drama movie ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ which unfortunately flopped at the box office. On the other hand, SRK is on a high success path with his three films, ‘Jawan,’ ‘Pathaan,’ and ‘Dunki,’ raking in magnificent numbers with decent reviews.
