Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom eyes royal premiere start of over Rs 4 crore in North America | Telugu Movie News

Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated action drama Kingdom is off to a thunderous start in North America, with premiere advance sales showcasing the actor’s formidable overseas pull. As of the latest update, Kingdom has clocked an impressive USD 439,300 from nearly 800 shows having sold more than 23,000 tickets in the United States of America for it’s premiere night shows. If one includes Canada numbers, the overall number jumps to USD 485,000 ( Rs 4.22 crore). The film’s collection could have been more by USD 75,000 as some shows had to be cancelled because the Kingdom footage was not delivered on time. With a reduced number of shows and estimating good walk-ins, the film is poised to have a collection of USD 700K to USD 800K. The film had the potential to to cross USD 1 million if the shows were not cancelled. The film is releasing on 31st July.The early numbers validate the buzz surrounding Kingdom, which marks Deverakonda’s return to a larger-than-life role following a series of experimental and dramatic outings like Liger, Khushi and The Family Star. . Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame, the film features Bhagyashri Borse and Rukmini Vasanth. The film will have two clear weeks in the circuit as 14th August sees the biggest cross-language clash with the release of Rajinikanth- Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie with Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan with War 2 led by Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, directed by Ayan Mukerji. While War 2 is expected to start its advance booking in the next few days , Coolie has already crossed half a million mark for it’s premiere day shows . The success of Kingdom in the US also underlines Vijay Deverakonda’s growing brand equity internationally. While he has always been a major crowd-puller in India, this robust North American response affirms his position as one of the few stars with consistent overseas traction.
