In his Instagram stories, Amaal expressed gratitude for the support he received but urged the media not to misrepresent his words. He wrote, “Thank you for the love and support; it truly means a lot. However, I would request media portals not to harass my family. Please don’t sensationalise or give negative headlines to my vulnerability… It’s a request. It has taken a lot for me to open up, and this is a very tough time for me… I will always love my family, but for now, from afar. Nothing changes between us brothers—Armaan and I are one, and nothing can come between us. Love & Peace.”
In the now-deleted Instagram post, Amaal spoke about dealing with clinical depression and reflected on his relationship with his brother, Armaan Malik. He indicated that the growing emotional distance between them was influenced by their parents, which led him to make a difficult decision—limiting his interactions with family strictly to professional matters.

The singer also voiced his feelings of being unappreciated despite his decade-long contribution to the music industry, during which he composed 126 songs. According to him, this sense of neglect significantly impacted his mental well-being and self-esteem.

“The journey has been terrific for both of us, but the actions of my parents have been the reason we, as brothers, have drifted too far apart. All of this has made me step in for myself, as it has left a very deep scar on my heart. Over the years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being and belittle all my friendships, my relationships, my mindset, and my self-confidence. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings. Yes, I have only myself to blame for my actions, but my self-worth has been diminished countless times by the actions of those near and dear to me, stealing pieces of my soul,” his previous post read.
According to Hindustan Times, following Amaal’s revelations, his mother, Jyothi Mallik, gave a brief statement, saying that whatever he had done was his own choice and declined further media interaction.
