Prime Minister Modi opens redeveloped Tripura Sundari Temple
PM Modi offers prayers at Tripura Sundari Temple on Monday

Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the redeveloped facilities at the historic Tripura Sundari Temple complex in Udaipur under Gomati district.The temple, part of the 51 Shakti Peeths and dating back 524 years, saw a new beginning with Modi’s visit, coinciding with the onset of Navratri.The PM participated in the puja and toured the newly constructed surroundings, which included an exhibition showcasing the rich history of both Tripura and the temple, alongside governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and chief minister Manik Saha.Arriving in a special Indian Air Force aircraft, Modi was warmly welcomed at MBB airport by Agartala’s mayor and MLA Dipak Mujumdar, chief secretary JK Sinha and DGP Anurag. From there, he continued by helicopter to the OTPC helipad at Palatana, located around 15km from the temple.As PM Modi’s convoy approached the temple, throngs of supporters lined the roads to greet him, a moment he acknowledged with gestures of appreciation. The CM said, “PM inaugurated the facilities and explored the exhibition before engaging in the puja.”It’s noteworthy that during this visit, he did not address any public gatherings or participate in interactive programmes. The focus was on unveiling the modernised Tripura Sundari temple complex, built at Rs 52 crore under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive scheme.After completing the inauguration, beautification efforts and the puja, the PM returned to Agartala before departing for Delhi.The temple, established in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, stands as the third of its kind in eastern India, following the Kali temple in Kolkata and the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati.
