SURAT: The tragic death of a physical education (PE) teacher, Alpesh Solanki (41), who took his own life after killing his two young sons, unravelled a disturbing tale of betrayal and emotional trauma that stemmed from his wife’s alleged infidelity. On Friday, Umra police arrested the Solanki’s wife, Falguni, and her lover, Naresh Rathod, for abetment to suicide. Rathod and Falguni, a clerk, worked in the district panchayat office, and they were reportedly in a relationship for four years, police said. The arrest followed revelations made in an eight-page suicide note, two handwritten diaries of 200 pages each, and three video recordings — all reportedly prepared by the victim in the days leading up to the drastic step.DCP (Zone-4) Vijaysingh Gurjar told TOI: “In the suicide note, he wrote about his wife’s affair with agriculture extension officer Naresh Rathod. Out of the two diaries, one was dedicated to his parents and siblings, while the second focused on his wife.”Gurjar said the victim had penned memories and significant incidents from his childhood, including how he fell in love with his wife and eventually got married.“Solanki alleged that even after giving her many chances, Falguni did not end her affair with Rathod. He also claimed that Falguni had been mentally torturing him for the past few years,” the DCP added.According to police, Rathod was married and had a child from his first marriage. After his wife’s death, he got formally engaged to another woman, but that relationship, too, ended. Following this, he allegedly began an affair with Falguni.Doubted Paternity of Second ChildSolanki was deeply disturbed by the affair and began trailing Falguni wherever she went. Since her sim card was registered in his name, he minutely scanned the call detail records. In his suicide note, he expressed doubts about being the biological father of their second child, suspecting that Rathod may have visited their home whenever he was out of town. Solanki believed that the new clothes Falguni brought home were gifts from Rathod. He also alleged that Falguni frequently taunted him about his appearance, telling him he was fortunate to have married someone as beautiful as her — implying that no one else would have accepted him.Took to heavy drinkingAfter learning about the affair, Solanki turned to alcohol and smoking. Beginning in June, he started documenting his thoughts in two separate diaries. As time went on, his dependence on alcohol and cigarettes increased and Falguni reportedly objected on multiple occasions. Requested CM, Paatil for justiceIn his suicide note, Solanki appealed to chief minister Bhupendra Patel, Union minister CR Paatil, and minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi to ensure justice. He wrote that despite the intervention of Falguni’s maternal uncle and aunt, she refused to end her relationship with Rathod. Solanki also shared his provident fund account credentials with his family and requested that they use the money, along with his bank savings, to purchase a gold ring.
