J&K encounter: Security forces notice individuals trying to infiltrate into Indian side in Poonch; two fall down after being hit | India News

NEW DELHI: An encounter between security forces and two ‘individuals’ broke out in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Poonch on Wednesday.According to Army officials, the forces intercepted a group of terrorists trying to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the border leading to an encounter.They said two terrorists fell down after being hit during the gunfight but it was not immediately clear whether they were dead or injured.“Suspected movement of two individuals was observed by own troops along the fence in the general area of Poonch Sector. Gunfire exchanged. Operation under progress,” White Knight Corps wrote on X.This comes two days after armed forces launched Operation Mahadev and gunned down three terrorists in an encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar.One of the terrorists is Sulieman alias Asif, who is believed to be the mastermind of the April 22 Pahalgam attack.The two others were identified as Jibran and Hamza Afghani. Jibran was allegedly involved in the Sonamarg Tunnel attack in October 2024. One M4 carbine rifle, two AK rifles and other munitions were recovered from the site of the encounter.(Details awaited)
