During a session already filled with tension, Jagdeep Dhankhar accused opposition MPs of “disrespecting the Constitution and democracy.” As Dhankhar called on Jaya Bachchan to speak, she didn’t hold back in expressing her discomfort with how she was being addressed.“I Jaya Amitabh Bachchan would like to say that I am an artist, I understand body language, expressions. I am sorry to say that your tone is not acceptable. We are colleagues, you may be sitting on the Chair….”The comment from Jaya led to an immediate and strong reaction from the Dhankhar. He said, “Jaya ji take your seat. You have earned a great reputation. An actor is a subject to the director. You are not seeing what I see from here. I am a person who has gone out of the way. Enough of this. You may be a celebrity, but you have to understand decorum.”

‘Jaya Amitabh Bachchan’ – the name debate

Just days before the clash over tone, Jaya Bachchan had also taken issue with something else: being repeatedly called “Jaya Amitabh Bachchan” in Parliament. Though she is proud of her husband Amitabh Bachchan’s achievements, she didn’t hide her annoyance at being defined by his name.She called it a “new drama” and made it clear she was uncomfortable with women being constantly identified through their husbands’ names, even in official spaces like Parliament.Responding to this, Dhankhar had explained his side by referring to procedural rules. He said, “However, Jaya Ji, the name that appears in the election certificate is what is used, and you can get the name changed; there is a provision for that.”On the film front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in the hit film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. Up next, she is reportedly set to appear in ‘Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling’, a family entertainer directed by Vikas Bahl. The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles.
