THANE: Five passengers are feared dead and several others injured after falling from an overcrowded local train between Diva and Mumbra stations in Thane district on Monday, Central Railway officials said.The incident took place on a train heading towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). Initial reports indicate that the train was carrying passengers beyond its capacity, with many commuters hanging from the doors. Some reportedly fell from the moving train near Mumbra station.Railway and police teams reached the location soon after the incident. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. An investigation is currently underway.Local train services on the Central line were affected due to the incident. Efforts are on to restore normal operations.
