Brittany Mahomes received a major honor from a place that helped shape her long before life in the spotlight. On Friday, the University of Texas at Tyler announced its Athletics Hall of Fame class for 2026, and Brittany’s name stood out among the inductees. Mahomes, known during her college years as Brittany Matthews, played women’s soccer for the UT Tyler Patriots from 2013 to 2016. She finished her career second all-time in total points with 78 and goals with 31. Her senior season remains one of the best the program has seen, as she recorded 40 points and 18 goals, numbers that still stand as a benchmark.

UT Tyler also announced former Director of Athletics Dr. Howard Patterson and the 2016 softball national championship team as part of the same Hall of Fame class. Brittany’s induction highlights the growing legacy of UT Tyler athletics and the athletes who helped elevate it on a national level.In a statement shared through the university, Brittany reflected on the impact of her college experience. She stated, “I’m honored to be inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame. My time at UT Tyler played a huge role in shaping my life, career, and the person I am today.” She also made a point to credit longtime women’s soccer head coach Stefani Webb for her guidanceShe added, “I’m especially grateful to Coach Webb—her belief in me, leadership, and constant support had an incredible impact on my journey both on and off the field. UT Tyler will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m so thankful for the experiences and the people who were part of making my time in Tyler one I will never forget.”The celebration extended beyond Brittany herself as her mother-in-law, Randi Mahomes, shared her excitement on Instagram Stories, reposting the university’s announcement and writing, “GO @BRITTANYLYNNE!!!” with a heart emoji. Brittany is scheduled to be formally inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame on March 28.
