Notably, Allen surpassed Antonio Gates to become the Chargers’ all-time receptions leader late in their 25-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The record-breaking moment came in the fourth quarter, when Allen caught a short hand-off from quarterback Justin Herbert and was tackled near the 40-yard line.James, who is a known NFL fan, showed his support on social media. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the NBA icon wrote, “CONGRATULATIONS @Keenan13Allen on the record bro!!.” Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers star has been known to support Los Angeles athletes across sports. Just last week, he also celebrated the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series win, proving his loyalty to the city’s sports scene.Keenan Allen’s achievement was another highlight in what has been a big season for him. The 33-year-old wide receiver returned to the Los Angeles Chargers this year after spending a season with the Chicago Bears. Earlier this season, he also became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions. That record came in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders, when he broke Marvin Harrison’s long-standing mark by reaching the milestone in just 159 games.
