As Los Angeles continues to reel amid protests against US President Donald Trump’s ordered immigration raids, several masked people on Monday night looted an Apple store in the city. A video has gone viral on social media where several masked individuals can be seen breaking into the Apple store and looting gadgets. Many were seen rushing out of the store as police arrived.Trump earlier ordered the deployment of 2000 National Guard troops in the city amid protests. Another 2000 troops, along with 700 marines, are headed to Los Angeles on Trump’s order, escalating military presence that local officials and governor Gavin Newsom opposed. The initial 2,000 Guard troops started arriving in LA on Sunday, which witnessed the most violence during three days of protests driven by anger over Trump’s stepped-up enforcement of immigration laws. Amid protests, Trump described Los Angeles in dire terms and accused mayor Karen Bass and Newsom of putting public safety at risk.Meanwhile, governor Newsom called the deployment reckless and “disrespectful to our troops” in a post on X.“This isn’t about public safety,” Newsom said. “It’s about stroking a dangerous President’s ego.”The protests in the city erupted on Friday after federal immigration authorities stepped up thier efforts and arrested over 40 people. The demonstrations on Monday were less raucous.
