Meghan Markle: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry donated over $600,000 to Democrat-linked causes via charity: Report

British royal couple Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have channelled hundreds of thousands of dollars from their Archewell Foundation to political operatives linked to the Democratic Party reports the New York Post, raising fresh questions about their involvement in US politics.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spent significant sums on high-level Democrat-aligned figures, according to public records, including a ‘disinformation expert’ with ties to major US election campaigns since the 1990s.
The move could deepen the rift between Harry and the British royal family, particularly after his brother, Prince William, recently met with US President Donald Trump. King Charles is also said to have maintained a positive relationship with Trump, who has expressed support for both.
Large sums to Democrat-linked figures
Documents reviewed by the New York Post show that in 2023, Archewell paid $146,500 to Jiore Craig, a media strategist known for working with Democrats on tackling disinformation. Craig, 33, previously held senior roles at Greenberg, Quinlan and Rosner, a Washington research firm that helped Bill Clinton win the 1992 election and has worked on many Democratic campaigns since.
Craig’s firm was reportedly involved in countering narratives about President Joe Biden’s age and his family during the last election cycle.
The Archewell Foundation also donated $25,000 to the Marcy Lab School in Brooklyn, where Craig sits on the board. In 2022, Craig received $120,000 from the foundation, according to federal filings.
Archewell also directed $90,000 to Markup News Inc., a non-profit backed by Democratic mega-donor George Soros and Craigslist founder Craig Newmark.
Archewell also paid $155,050 to Herlihy Loughran, a firm led by former Buckingham Palace staffers Beth Herlihy and Clara Loughran, for “strategic programme services.”
Links to the Biden family
Archewell’s largest donation of $250,000 went to the Women’s Wellness Space, a Pennsylvania-based charity founded by Ashley Biden, daughter of former President Joe Biden. The charity, which supports women affected by trauma, opened in 2024.
These donations have sparked criticism from conservative figures. Nile Gardiner, a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, called for scrutiny of Archewell’s political links. “Harry and Meghan still retain royal titles and should not be engaging in any way in political activity,” he said. “It’s actually outrageous.”
Sussexes defend donations
A spokesperson for the couple rejected accusations of political bias, stating: “It’s important to note The Duke and Duchess did not endorse any candidate in the [2024 presidential] election, and to suggest they’re trying to curry favour with the Democratic Party… is misguided. The Duke and Duchess are committed to investing in people and initiatives that truly make a difference.”
Meghan’s political ambitions have been the subject of speculation for years. She and Harry have met with high-profile Democrats, including New York governor Kathy Hochul and former mayor Bill de Blasio in 2021. Reports also suggest they held a private video call with California governor Gavin Newsom that same year.
Meanwhile, President Trump has been openly critical of the couple. When asked about reports that Harry may have misrepresented information on his US visa application, Trump recently told The Post: “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
