Kelly Clarkson channelled her inner demon hunter as she took to the stage to perform her cover of the hit ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ song ‘What It Sounds Like’.The singer and host of The Kelly Clarkson Show, gave in to popular demand and performed the track during her popular “Kellyoke” segment. Giving the character Rumi a run for the money, Kelly gave a soulful rendition of the track before turning up the tempo and pushing her vocal range. Interestingly, this song selection came as a welcomed surprise for fans, considering that the singers behind the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, namely EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami have been belting out their hit track ‘Golden’ during their live performances.

Clarkson addressed the audience saying, “You probably recognise that song, or you have been living under a rock… ‘What It Sounds Like’ from the ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ soundtrack.” She added, “It’s a cool soundtrack. It’s like the best pop soundtrack. I love it so much.”She went on to deliver an emotionally charged rendition of the song, that hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Much before Kelly could perform on stage, Arden Cho, who voices the character Rumi in the film, had said, “I would die if you sang anything from KPop Demon Hunters.” In an earlier interview with Collider, singer Rei Ami commented on a possible cover from Clarkson, saying, “Kelly Clarkson… you know when she covers a song…” with EJAE adding, “She always does better.”

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ win big this awards season
Fresh off their Critics Choice Awards win, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ also won big at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards. The film took home the Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture, followed by Best Original Song for ‘Golden’.The film and its song is also a front-runner to score an Oscar nomination and are tipped to even win the award show.
