Here’s why Samay Raina rejected OTT offers for ‘India’s Got Latent’: ‘I want to keep it raw… |

Samay Raina and his show ‘India’s Got Latent’ have been under the radar for the past for days. The content of the show, the comments on the panelists, guests, and even contests have been the center of a heated social media debate. The use of dark humour and foul language has reached a level where right now there are two FIRs, and multiple complaints against the show. As we speak, people have been demanding a complete ban on the show and the comedians.
Amid all this, an old video of Samay Raina is doing rounds. In the video, Samay can be seen explaining why he rejected OTT offers. He admitted in the clip that he was given various lucrative offers from several streaming giants. However, if he had said yes, the OTTs would restrict his content. According to him, the memberships allow him to keep it raw.
“Thanks to memberships, I’m already in profit. Do you get it? And that makes me happy because right now, OTT platforms are offering me huge sums to bring India’s Got Latent to their platforms. But the problem? They’ll have too much control over the content,” Samay Raina said in his old clip.
“Memberships allow me to stay independent. I can keep the show exactly as it is. I don’t want to cut this joke, I don’t want to mute certain things. I want it to stay raw. Controversy might follow, but I’d rather keep it raw,” he continued.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ row
The recent controversy began when Ranveer Allahbadia, posed an inappropriate question to a contestant. The question had foul language and was on the topic of incest, which didn’t go down well with the netizens, sparking widespread outrage. Ranveer Allahbadia has since faced heavy flak for his words and he issued a public apology for the same.
However, netizens didn’t seem convinced by his apology and soon legal trouble followed. Cases were filed against Samay, Ranveer, Apoorva and others. On Tuesday, Maharashtra Cyber Cell registered a case against nearly 30-40 individuals associated with the show.
