As the nation erupted in cheer and celebration over the historic win, and Bollywood wasn’t far behind in joining in the chorus and expressing their pride and joy over the big victory. From Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli to Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, Mammooty and many others, flooded social media with congratulatory posts, applauding the team’s historic win.Anushka took to her Instagram stoires to write, “You Champions!! SUCH A momentous achievement.”

Anushka’s cricketer husband, Virat Kohli shared his pride in a note that read, “The girls have created history and I couldn’t be more proud as an Indian to see the hard work of so many years come to life finally. Opener Shafali Verma emerged as the star of the match, smashing a career-best 87 off 78 balls, helping India post an imposing 298-7 after electing to bat first. Deepti Sharma’s stunning spell of 5 for 39 sealed the victory, dismissing South Africa for 246 in 45.3 overs, despite a valiant century from Laura Wolvaardt (101 off 98 balls).This win marks a historic milestone — India’s first Women’s World Cup title, after finishing runners-up in 2005 and 2017.
