When Govinda tried to get a job as a steward at a 5-star hotel | Hindi Movie News

Govinda, born Govind Ahuja, made his film debut in 1986. Despite not fitting the conventional image of a star, he went on to achieve unparalleled success over the next 15 years. He consistently delivered hit films, shining brightly in the Bollywood scene like a meteor. However, his path to stardom was marked by early struggles, followed by years of triumph, and ultimately, a sudden downturn.
Earlier, during a conversation with Simi Garewal, Govinda opened up about the prolonged and arduous struggles his family faced. He highlighted the immense burden his mother carried, particularly in ensuring the well-being of their family and arranging marriages for their four daughters. Reflecting on his father, Govinda shared: “With failure, he was very shaken. He couldn’t take it.”
The actor recalled about his job-hunting days, where he visited multiple offices in search of employment. One such attempt was an interview at the Taj Mahal hotel for a steward role, which he didn’t secure. He explained: “I didn’t get the job because I couldn’t speak English. I couldn’t speak in front of them.”
Simi Garewal asked Govinda about his previous statement that his anger at seeing his mother struggle was what drove him to become a star. He elaborated, “When you witness someone, especially a mother, struggling through tough times, trying to manage everything alone while maintaining the family’s dignity, it deeply affects you. My mother had to get our four daughters married, which was incredibly challenging. There were many incidents that hurt me, and I wanted to change our situation quickly.”
