Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava mints Rs 15 crore in North America in opening weekend

Vicky Kaushal‘s latest historical drama, Chhaava, has made a significant impact at the box office, both domestically and internationally. The film, which portrays the life of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has garnered impressive numbers since its release on February 14, 2025.
In North America, Chhaava has surpassed the Rs 15 crore mark over its opening weekend. The film’s day-wise ticket sales are as follows:
- Day 1 (Friday): $441,000
- Day 2 (Saturday): $629,000
- Day 3 (Sunday): $659,000
These figures culminate in a total weekend collection of $1,729,000, reflecting the film’s strong appeal among the North American audience.
Chhaava has also been a formidable force in the Indian market. Within just four days of its release, the film amassed over Rs 140 crore, positioning it as the second-highest grosser in Vicky Kaushal’s career, following the success of Uri: The Surgical Strike. This achievement also sees it surpassing the box office performance of Raazi which had earned Rs 123.74 crore.
The film opened to Rs 31 crore collection- the biggest for the year 2025 on Friday. The collection then jumped to Rs 37 crore on Saturday and Rs 48.5 crore . On its first Monday, the film successfully passed the critical ‘Monday test’ by earning Rs 24 crore. This figure represents a 50% drop from Sunday’s earnings, a standard decline that indicates sustained audience interest.
The film will now be in the race to cross the Rs 200 crore and becoming the second film of Vicky to do so, the film will be facing very little resistance as no big films are lined up for the next couple of weeks. “Chhaava” has already decimated the competition from new and old films like Loveyapa, Badass Ravikumar and Captain America: Brave New World.
Though next week does see the release of Mere Husband Ki Biwi starring Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar, directed by Mudassar Aziz . But the film has failed to create much buzz about itself.
Chhaava directed by Laxman Utekar also featured Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai and Viineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash.
