BAREILLY: A man was allegedly beaten to death by three youths in the Cantt police station area of Bareilly after he objected to their obscene behaviour involving two women at an under-construction house. The incident took place on the night of 3 June, and the police have launched a search for the accused. According to the FIR filed by the deceased’s brother, Sudhanshu Pathak, the three accused — Akash Sharma alias ‘Mental’, Deepak Yadav, and an unidentified accomplice from Nakatia — had brought two unknown women to the rooftop of the under-construction house opposite the victim’s home. They were reportedly behaving in an indecent manner while under the influence of alcohol. When the victim, Shivshakti Pathak, and his wife Pooja objected to the commotion, the three men allegedly barged into their home and physically assaulted them. Shivshakti was beaten to death, while Pooja also sustained injuries. The assailants also fled with Shivshakti’s gold chain. The accused Akash Sharma is known in the area for his criminal background and is reportedly feared by locals, who often hesitate to speak against him.
