‘The Diplomat’ box office collection Day 2: John Abraham starrer inches towards Rs. 10 crore mark in its debut weekend

This Friday, John Abraham made it to the big screens with the thriller drama ‘The Diplomat.’ Based on true events, the movie shows the rescue journey of an Indian girl Uzma Ahmed, played by Sadia Khateeb. She gets trapped in Pakistan after being deceived into marriage, and then J.P. Singh, the Indian diplomat, played by John Abraham, does everything in his power and beyond to help her. According to the early predictions, the movie was expected to open to a slow start; however, after opening with a decent number, the movie seems to be heading towards an impressive mark of Rs.10 crore in its debut week.
According to the Sacnilk report, this Shivam Nair directorial opened with Rs.4 crore on March 14, 2025. It appears the movie greatly benefited from the festivities of Holi. On day 2, the movie maintained its pace. With a rise of more than 12 percent, the film minted around Rs. 4.5 crore on Saturday. The movie is expected to see substantial growth on the coming Sunday.
It is worth noting that ‘The Diplomat’ is facing a good challenge from Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava,’ as despite a month’s run at the theatre, the latter is keeping the cash registers ringing at the box office. The Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama made around Rs. 8 crore on its fifth Saturday.
Further, as far as the movie’s review is concerned, then everyone is praising John Abraham for his work.”John Abraham delivers one of his most nuanced performances as the empathetic and resolute diplomat. He balances quiet authority with wry humour, particularly in moments where he subtly challenges Pakistani officials. “Yeh Pakistan hai, beta, yahan aadmi aur ghoda seedhi chaal nahi chalta,” offers a refreshing break from the usual jingoistic rhetoric,” read ETimes review.
