SS Rajamouli’s Bold Move: The Near Clash of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ Revealed! |

SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning‘ was released during the same time as Bollywood’s Salman Khan‘s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘. Released in 2015, both films went on to become massive blockbusters. However, what many may not know is that ‘Baahubali’ was almost postponed to avoid clashing with Salman Khan’s Eid release.
Rajamouli considered pushing the release by a week
In a recent conversation featuring SS Rajamouli, Prabhas, and Rana Daggubati held ahead of the re-release of ‘Baahubali: The Epic’, the team reminisced about the tense days leading up to the release of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’. Rana revealed that Rajamouli was initially keen on shifting the release date by a week to avoid competition from ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.Rana said, “We were doing promotions. Rajamouli was saying, ‘Speak to Karan Johar, we will release it next week.’ I said, ‘It doesn’t work like that in Hindi. Everything is done. Now, it can’t happen.’ He was like, ‘It’s just one week only. There is another Hindi movie releasing on the same day.'”
Salman Khan cinema
Prabhas recalled how the director was skeptical of clashing with a Salman Khan release, speaking of his box-office pull. The ‘Salaar’ actor said “Salman Khan cinema. It wasn’t any ordinary cinema, it was Salman Khan’s cinema.”Rana further added that Rajamouli had predicted ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan”s success even before its release. “On top of that, Rajamouli was saying that the film (Bajrangi Bhaijaan) would be really good. I know that story. That cinema will be very good,” he said.Interestingly, both Baahubali: The Beginning and Bajrangi Bhaijaan were written by the same person, V. Vijayendra Prasad, Rajamouli’s father.Despite the near clash, ‘Baahubali’ was preponed by a week, avoiding a direct showdown with ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.Now, the makers are gearing up for the grand re-release of the re-edited version of the franchise in ‘Baahubali: The Epic’. It will be released on October 31.
