SS Rajamouli’s ‘Bahubali- The Epic’ beats Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ to become the 5th highest grossing re-released film in India | Telugu Movie News
SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali- The Epic, the re-imagined and re-cut version of both his Baahubali films put together has been having a tremendous run at the box office. The three hour and forty-five minute long film has the audiences glued to their chairs and has very much become the talk of the town. And just like the two films which independently had set the box office records for itself, the combined film is also charting its own records. And since the day of its release, the film has already made it on the record books. And by the end of its first weekend the film has already become the 5th biggest re-release film in India beating Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. Bahubali- The Epic minted Rs 1.15 crore from its premiere shows and went on to collect Rs 9.65 crore on its first day. The film dipped on Saturday as it collected Rs 7.3 crore but stayed steady on Sunday with Rs 6 crore collection. Thereby taking the first weekend collection to Rs 24.10 crore and beating Christopher Nolan’s Intersolar’s re-release which had collected Rs 21.05 crore and became the 5th highest grossing re-release film in India.To reach the 5th spot, Bahubali- The Epic has gone past films like James Cameron’s Avatar Rs 10 crore, Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar’s Rs 11.50 crore, Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri’s Laila Majnu Rs 11.6 crore, Sholay 3D Rs 13 crore and Titanic 3D Rs 18 crore. The next target for the film would be Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which had collected Rs 25.4 crore on its re-release. It would also be interesting if The Epic would be able to cross the numbers set by Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad which collected Rs 30.48 crore and Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam which collected Rs 33.18 crore from its re-release respectively .
