Shilpa Shetty withdraws travel plea; cancels foreign trip after Bombay HC denied permission amid Rs 60-crore fraud case

Shilpa Shetty is currently facing legal heat over Rs 60-crore cheating allegations along with her businessman husband Raj Kundra. On Thursday, she informed the Bombay High Court that she is withdrawing her application seeking permission to travel abroad.
Lawyer says they will file a fresh application in future
As reported by PTI, her advocate, Niranjan Mundargi, told a bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad that the planned travel did not materialise. “As and when she and her husband desire to travel in future, they will file a fresh application seeking permission from the court. She (Shetty) is not pressing the present application,” Mundargi said.
Complaint involves alleged Rs 60-crore investment misuse
The report states, the legal case stems from a complaint filed by Deepak Kothari, who alleged that between 2015 and 2023, he was induced to invest Rs 60 crore in Shetty and Kundra’s company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Kothari claimed that the funds were used for the couple’s personal benefits instead of business purposes. Both Shetty and Kundra have cooperated with the investigation, appearing for questioning as part of the probe conducted by the city police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
Previous court plea sought suspension of LOC
Last month, the couple had approached the Bombay High Court seeking suspension of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them by the EOW. The LOC prevents them from travelling abroad while the investigation is ongoing. In their petition, they requested permission to travel internationally for professional commitments and one leisure trip between October and January 2026.Shetty had planned to travel to the United States to attend an event scheduled in the last week of October. The court had asked her to provide the agreement or invitation received. Mundargi explained that no agreement could be signed until the court granted travel permission.
Court previously restricted leisure trips for Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra
During earlier hearings, the court had made it clear that leisure trips could not be allowed while the couple is accused in a cheating and fraud case. It also stated that their plea would only be considered if they were willing to deposit the Rs 60 crore in question.
Next hearing scheduled for LOC suspension plea
On Thursday, the court accepted Shetty’s withdrawal of the travel application and posted the couple’s plea seeking suspension of the LOC for hearing on November 17. This means the question of whether they can travel abroad in the future will be addressed later, giving them a chance to submit a fresh application if required.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
