Saqib Saleem calls himself an ‘evolving feminist,’ to which Saba Azad responds, ‘You don’t need to experience what women go through…’

Saqib Saleem recently shared his thoughts on feminism, emphasizing that he identifies as an “evolving feminist.” His co-star, Saba Azad, also contributed her perspective on the topic.
Talking to Hauterrfly, the actor shared his thoughts on feminism, stating that he doesn’t believe he can ever fully identify as a feminist and considers himself an “evolving feminist.” He acknowledged that he will never completely understand what women go through, but he is committed to learning and evolving his understanding of their experiences. He recognises that he is not conditioned to fully grasp the challenges women face.
Saba Azad added to tell Saqib that he doesn’t need to experience what women go through to believe in equal opportunities for both genders. She insisted that if he believes in gender equality, he is a feminist and urged him not to deny it. When Saqib questioned if that was the only criterion for being a feminist, Saba confidently replied with a big yes. This led Saqib to accept that he is indeed a feminist.
Saleem expressed his belief that a man can be a feminist ally simply by listening to his female friends and counterparts. He emphasised that decisions should not be made based on gender, stating, “You are not given an opportunity just because you are a man. Let’s not look at things from a gendered lens.” Saqib also mentioned that all his life decisions have been influenced by his mother and sister.
