Samay Raina addresses ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy during a live show in Canada: ‘Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera…’ |

Comedian Samay Raina recently addressed the controversy surrounding his show, India’s Got Latent, during a live performance at the Myer Horowitz Theatre in Edmonton, Canada. The uproar began when YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, made an inappropriate remark on a recent episode, leading to widespread criticism and multiple police complaints.
During his Edmonton show, Raina humorously referenced the situation. A fan, Shubham Dutta, shared his experience on Facebook, describing how Raina, despite visible stress, managed to engage the audience with his wit. At one point, Raina quipped, “Thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees,” eliciting laughter from the crowd. When an audience member attempted to heckle him, Raina retorted, “There will be many moments in this show where you might expect me to say something really funny. But just remember BeerBiceps at those times.” He concluded the performance with, “Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon,” translating to, “Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends—I am time itself.”
In response to the backlash, Raina announced on social media that he had removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel, stating, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time.” He also expressed his intention to cooperate fully with investigating agencies.
The controversy has sparked discussions about the boundaries of comedy and free speech. Actress Akansha Ranjan Kapoor voiced her support for Raina and Allahbadia, questioning the priorities of the authorities in pursuing legal action over comedic content. Similarly, TV actor Aly Goni criticized the decision to remove all episodes of the show, suggesting that only the contentious episode should have been taken down.
