Celebrity Masterchef's Ranveer Brar reveals the story behind his expensive Rs 2 lakh worth knife; says "I called my wife to ask, ‘card bounce toh nahi hoga na?"

Celebrity Masterchef judge Ranveer Brar, known for his culinary skills and charismatic personality, recently opened up about one of his most prized kitchen possessions, an extravagant knife worth a whopping Rs 2 lakh. While discussing the purchase in an interview with Ritesh Sagar for Hindustan Times ‘The Impossible Show’, he humorously recalled the moment of hesitation before swiping his card, revealing that he even called his wife to confirm, “Card bounce toh nahi hoga na?”
Sharing the hilarious incident, Ranveer shared, “Woh pata nahi kahan se viral hogaya purana sa clip. I couldn’t hold myself back from purchasing the knife. I’ll tell you the moral of the story. I honestly never knew how much money you have in my bank account. Whether it is Rs 20,000, Rs 50,000 or what. My only message to my wife was dekh yaar card bounce na ho! Bus ke bezzati na ho chaar logon ke saamne ke isne card decline hogaya. I asked her to handle it. I usually don’t even call her but that was the first time I called her saying listen I’m buying a knife and I’m in Denmark. I told her I am with a big chef and I have liked a knife which is around Rs 2 lakh and card toh nahi bounce hoga. It is the only time I called her, single swipe and she told me it won’t bounce, don’t worry. For me the only memory of the knife, other than the virality of the cost, is that for the first time I called my wife and asked her ‘card bounce toh nahi hoga na bezzati hojaayegi’.”
In the chat, he also spoke about judging Celebrity Masterchef and how different it was from other shows. “It was good fun, this time it was Celebrity Masterchef but bahot thaka diya. Celebrities have a different perspective. When you are talking to cooks, you have an idea what kind of response you are going to get, you have an idea and anything can be thrown back at you.” he said.
Ranveer, who has hosted Masterchef seasons in the past revealed how the celebrity contestants ask a lot of questions, “They ask a lot of questions, a lot of time you just assume. For example when they are making something sweet, we suggest adding some salt and they are like why? Then you have to take 5 minutes separately and make them understand the reason. Also, as chefs many times we take a few things for granted but they ask questions as they are not trained chefs. We had a great time shooting.”
