Rani Mukerji on why films like ‘Mardaani 3’ are important
Rani Mukerji returns as the gallant cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in the third instalment. In a recent interview with The Hindu, Rani Mukerji explained why ‘Mardaani 3’ is an important film. “Mardaani is an important film with important social messaging; it is not just a franchise. It is about making people uncomfortable, to make them realise that we should be speaking about this issue more often. I want to keep coming back with this message as the reality for women has still not changed from the time we made Mardaani in 2014,” she said. When asked about whether such films can transform society, Rani Mukerji said, “I don’t know about that. But it’s at least enough to start a conversation. If a film can even transform one person, that is a big thing.
