Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Konidela reveals having a ‘family constitution’ to settle wealth disputes: ‘We fight over smaller things…’

Upasana Konidela, wife of actor Ram Charan, recently shared her perspective on navigating life as a member of one of India’s most prominent families. Upasana discussed how she consciously educated herself about managing generational wealth while tackling gender discrimination in both her personal and professional life.
In an interview with Masoom Minawala, Upasana revealed that her experiences with sexism—both at home and at work—pushed her to stay prepared and remain one step ahead in every situation. She spoke about maintaining structure and order in her life, and credited her life coach for playing a key role in her decision-making process.

“I write things down, find solutions, check everything once again to see if I’m happy with it, bounce it off my life coach if I’m not confident about the solution. And then, after that, I execute. These exercises have helped me a lot in my life,” she shared.
Upasana shared that she believes in the ‘fake it till you make it’ approach and emphasised that gaining knowledge is key to building confidence. She highlighted the importance of continuous learning and revealed that she dedicates up to three months each year to personal growth with the help of a life coach.
She further spoke about a unique system established by her grandfather—a ‘family constitution’ designed to prevent conflicts related to wealth. The document, she said, plays a critical role in maintaining harmony within their extended family, which has grown over the years.

“We started Secret Santa in our family with 38 people; now we have 44. Over the years, the family has grown, and getting to know them and spend time with them—not just at gatherings but by being there for each other—that’s really important. Us being a family business and a business family, we have a family constitution written as well. We go back to that so that there are no fights over wealth. Wealth should never be the cause for any fight in our family. These are the laws that my grandfather put in place. We fight over smaller things, but the big things are all written and taken care of by him,” she explained.
Upasana and Ram Charan have been married since 2012. The couple welcomed their daughter, Klin Kaara, in 2023.
