Rakhi Sawant has shown her full support to Diljit Dosanjh, who is facing backlash over casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming Punjabi film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’. As the controversy grows, Rakhi has taken to social media to show love and encouragement for both Diljit and Hania.Rakhi congratulates Hania and DiljitOn Thursday, Rakhi posted a short video clip on Instagram featuring Diljit and Hania from ‘Sardaar Ji 3’. She was full of excitement and praised Hania for stepping into Bollywood. “Congratulation my sweetheart. Hania AmeeR. I’m so happy. Finally you are in Bollywood films, congratulation Daljit sardaar Ji 3,”(sic) Rakhi wrote.In a separate post, Rakhi urged everyone to watch the film and support Hania in her big debut. She said,“Everyone should watch this movie. Sardaar3 Hania Ameer she’s doing debut. Everyone should appreciate her. She’s my favourite. All the best. Congratulation Haniya Allah bless you.” (sic)The backlash against DiljitThe film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ has sparked controversy because it stars Hania Aamir, a Pakistani actress, at a time of heightened tension between India and Pakistan. Several Indian film worker associations, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), have raised objections. They claim that casting a Pakistani actor hurts national sentiments and have even called for a ban on Diljit and his upcoming projects in India.Diljit Dosanjh speaks upResponding to the growing criticism, Diljit Dosanjh recently shared his side of the story. He told BBC Asian Network that the film was shot before any political tension had started and explained why it will not be released in India.He said, “Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in February and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi.”He further added, “Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them.” Diljit made it clear that the team behind ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ had no idea the political situation would turn so serious. Since then, the makers have decided to release the film only in international markets.‘Sardaar Ji 3’ won’t release in IndiaDirected by Amar Hundal, ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ is all set to hit overseas cinemas on 27 June. However, it will not be shown in Indian theatres.
