Ragini Khanna admits a Koffee With Karan episode with Govinda would be ‘embarrassing but iconic’: ‘It would be a very discomforting…’ |

What happens when you mix family ties with Karan Johar’s infamous couch? According to Ragini Khanna—plenty of awkwardness and iconic moments. The television star recently admitted that while she’d love to appear on Koffee With Karan alongside her uncle, Govinda, the episode would likely be ’embarrassing’ and ‘discomforting’ due to their formal relationship. Still, she believes their contrasting personalities would make it unmissable content.
Too formal for the couch
When asked whether she’d rather take on a dance challenge with Govinda or appear on Koffee With Karan alongside him, Ragini Khanna leaned toward the latter—but with a twist. In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she admitted that the idea of sharing the couch with her uncle would be extremely awkward and far from their usual dynamic, which is formal and reserved. Describing their relationship as more traditional and respectful, she felt the personal and probing questions typical of the show would make the episode deeply discomforting and embarrassing for both. Still, she joked, it would likely make for entertaining content, given Govinda’s knack for reading between the lines.Earlier in an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Ragini slammed the assumption that being related to Govinda gave her an advantage in the industry. She pointed out that while Govinda is a huge star, she isn’t his daughter and doesn’t enjoy the same privileges. Expressing affection for his children, Tina (Narmada) and Yashvardan Ahuja, she said they are like friends to her—but highlighted a clear double standard in the industry. According to Ragini, if someone suggested Tina or Yash take up television roles, they probably wouldn’t, but someone like her would be expected to. She added that this mindset needs to change, questioning why television is still viewed as a step down from films.
