He explained his focus on society had disheartened fans, and he poured his energy into the movie to make them proud again. Kalyan emphasized that while films are his livelihood, serving society remains his priority.

Actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan has kept himself busy giving less time to his cinematic affairs. But the actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, made a grand comeback with his latest outing, ‘They Call Him OG’, which turned out to be a big hit at the box office. Recently, the star opened up about the emotional reasons that pushed him back into cinema.

On Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan visited the Ambedkar Konaseema district and addressed a large gathering, where chants of “OG” filled the air. As per a report by Hindustan Times, the actor paused and then spoke about it, “I hear you screaming ‘OG’ there. I could’ve made a film like ‘OG’ after 2004. But my concentration wasn’t on films, it was on society,” he said. He mentioned that his attention toward politics over the years had left a section of his fans feeling disheartened. “I gave ‘OG’ my all because you have been feeling hurt. I know my focus on politics has hurt you,” he shared.He further shared that he returned to the cinema with the sole focus of making his fan proud again. “My fans haven’t been able to hold their head high lately. So, I decided to focus on cinema for once.” He also shared that films are his bread and butter and serving society remains his priority.

‘They Call Him OG’ performance

Released in September, ‘They Call Him OG’ shattered the box office with a global gross of Rs 293.65 crore. Directed by Sujeeth, the film features Pawan as Ojas Gambheera, a gangster who returns to the underworld for the sake of his loved ones.

Upcoming film

He will be next on the big screen playing the role of a cop in ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ directed by Harish Shankar. The film is in the last stage of production and will be released next year.
