Leighton Meester shares the simple secret behind her 12-year marriage with Adam Brody, says ‘I wish I had the answer’
Hollywood’s admired couple, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, attribute their enduring marriage to a simple yet profound reason: genuinely liking each other. Meester revealed that accepting each other’s imperfections and a willingness to work on oneself are key. Their shared professional journey, including collaborations on films and shows, has also seemingly strengthened their bond over the years.

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are one of the most admired couples in Hollywood. Their story began after meeting on set of ‘The Oranges’ in 2011. They public their relationship in 2013 and two tied the knot in 2014 and have kept their relationship mostly private over the years. The couple share two kids, daughter Arlo and younger son. Recently, in an interview, Leighton Meester shared what has helped her relationship with Adam Brody stay strong and steady even after more than a decade of marriage.

It starts with genuinely liking each other

In an interview with People, when asked about the “secret,” Meester admitted she doesn’t have a perfect answer. But she does have something honest. “It’s so funny, because the other night somebody asked me that, and I was like, ‘I wish I had the answer,’ [but] I think just liking each other, and getting along is a big part of it,” she shared. She kept it even simpler. “It is sort of at a base level what it’s about. Just being like, ‘I really like this person,’” Meester said. It’s relatable. Love can be deep, but day-to-day life needs friendship too.

Imperfections are part of the deal

Meester also spoke about accepting the reality of being with another person. It’s not always easy, people change and they make mistakes. They test each other’s patience. But that’s the point.“I think being with another person and knowing that they’re going to be imperfect and challenge you, and that you are far from perfect, is [important],” she explained. She added that it matters “to always be open and willing to work on yourself.” That mindset keeps things grounded, even when life gets messy.

Their work together

They started as teen drama stars and later built careers that often crossed paths. They’ve worked together on films like ‘River Wild’ and ‘Life Partners’, and also appeared in shows like ‘Nobody Wants This’ and ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’.
